I love that @George Kalantzis was the first to react to this because I’m beginning to think I borrowed some of his voice for this.

I borrow voices all the time . It’s part of the process

i don't have to tell you voices are my favorite, i don't even know how many i used for L&F 😆

you have a distinct flavor of "it is the way it is and fuck that", it's one that hits in ways i can't help but keep coming back for.

Good to know someone enjoys the cussing . The best written advice , hand wiring passages that you like . Something about the brain connecting that just works

Zani D's avatar

thank you so much! also you said movie and I'm now realizing this is the other side of the coin to Repo! The Genetic Opera (and by proxy Repo Men)

Yikes!

Why is it the ex wives always have sig sauers? It's like a recipe for a future failed relationship.

This was exceptional. Thank you much.

Zani D's avatar

it's projection.

I am an ex wife with a sig and an angry estranged husband.

he's way worse than the guy in the story tho. this guy misses his wife.

Wow. Loved this.

Holy hell, this has the kind of deranged human will energy where three sentences in, I'm like OK, whatever the hell you're saying, mate, eff it, I’m in.

I like the whole concept. I said this on one of Andy's shorts as well, by biggest critism is it feels more like world building for a more in depth narrative to be weaved into. It is still well strung together, I dig it. good job!

That's actually a delightful criticism because it ties into what I love so much about the micro/flash format. I feel like it puts many readers into the position of considering what that world would look like in relation to what our world looks like now.

Goodness gracious! What a horrifying thought!

I love this story!

Zani D's avatar

Also if you loved this one you should absolutely read the two that helped inspire it, they're brilliant!

Thank you so much!

yep. beat me to it Z!

nice take. but who wins in the lottery... or is it just a losing game...?

Zani D's avatar

but also i didn't beat anyone to anything, Repo! The Genetic Opera and Repo Men are at least 15 years old by now.

I would LOVE to read your take on this if you were planning on writing something.

Zani D's avatar

It's very much a losing game.

That's why everyone wins the Lottery.

i confess i was trying to come up with somthing that hit that vibe that Andy was smashing out... but i couldn't come up with something... then you did this one and now im even more stoked to come up with something of my own... but its not happening...

Zani D's avatar

Don't make this a challenge. Dammit Nick 😂

Stick with what you know.

That's the only reason I summoned this. Organ transplants are big on my mind right now.

What does being a lawyer look like after society collapses?

Nick Winney's avatar

One of the good things about the collapse of society is that there will be no need for lawyers. Storytellers and foragers will come into their own. i shall survive!
